QphoX

Brand Design - Web Design & Development - Launch

Netherlands based startup QphoX is in pursuit of creating a quantum internet.

ROLE:

Brand Strategy & Design
UI & UX Design
Web Design

The process

QphoX aims to develop into a commercial product the quantum modem it created at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). This networks separate processors together, allowing quantum computers to scale beyond tens or hundreds of qubits.

We created a playful, approachable visual identity and custom website for the heart-centered brand, targeting investors and applicants to join their growing team. The team wanted something colorful, dynamic, and playfully professional. We created a logo, symbols, and a website and iterated until it felt right.

Branding

QphoX is focused on inclusivity and attracting a diverse audience of applicants to join their team. Even though QphoX is a groundbreaking and expert presence in the quantum technology sector, they want to assure the world they are approachable and heart-centered. The branding was developed to soften the edges, presenting DE&I principles and the more qualitative offerings alongside the hard, tech goals.

We crafted the brand voice and aesthetic to represent their welcoming and collaborative ethos. We created content, UX, and branded elements to demonstrate their technology while maintaining a youthful voice using linework vector drawings, bright gradient colors, and round symbols and soft particle wave textures.

Iterations

We wanted to play with highlighting the Q and the X in QphoX, both which held importance to the science behind the tech. We played with particle/wave imagery, and colliding particles that they use in their actual tech. We wound up settling on a more abstract letterform mark, and reserved the unused symbols as elements to use throughout the rest of their branding.

UI/UX

After some affinity mapping to identify goals, use cases, and solutions, I wireframed a simple MVP website with an About and Careers focused CTA. Their main goal was to boost brand awareness alongside a press release announcing their emergence from stealth, and to attract job applicants to join their rapidly growing team with an emphasis on attracting diversity. Each page prompts users to head over to the Careers and Team pages, where people can see their diverse team and thoughtful offerings. The site was made as a placeholder MVP, so I hope to continue to iterate on it.
